Namotu Island Welcomes The 2014 Women's Pro Surfers To The Fiji Surf May 24-31

Namotu Island Resort is co-hosting the 2014 Fiji Women's Pro Surfing World Tour May 24-31. Surfers from all over the world will surf in Fiji to compete.

NAMOTU ISLAND, FIJI, May 22, 2014 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Namotu Island Resort is co-hosting the 2014 Fiji Women's Pro Samsung Galaxy Surfing Tour from May 24-31. Seventeen of the world's top female surfers will take on two of the most legendary Fiji surf breaks, Cloudbreak and Restaurants, for the first time since 2006.

The Fiji Women's Pro event is the fifth of ten events that comprise the 2014 Samsung Galaxy World Tour. None of the seventeen leading female surfers on the tour have competed in a Fiji surf event before, which adds an element of excitement and expectancy to the event.

"It's going to be a very exciting event. We haven't had a tour like this here in almost a decade, so there's no clear frontrunner. Everyone is curious to see how the surfers perform on these world-class breaks and I think we'll be surprised. Cloudbreak and Restaurants both break left so definitely keep an eye on the surfers who are strong lefthanders, but you never know who's going to emerge as a leader in surf conditions like we have here," said Scott O'Connor, Managing Director of Namotu Island Resort (www.namotuislandfiji.com).

Cloudbreak is one of the most powerful and challenging waves in the world, and is sure to test the competitors' heavy-water surfing skills. Throaty barrels and the opportunity for big carves abound on the swells. Restaurants is as equally high-performance as Cloudbreak with slightly smaller waves. Restaurants delivers near-perfect waves with long hollows every time.

"Conditions have been great this week. I think the competitors will get to experience some strong swells but nothing too strong to handle. We should be able to see some great runs and the competitors will definitely feel the challenge of the Fiji surf," said O'Connor.

The 2014 Fiji Women's Pro event will be live streamed at http://www.aspworldtour.com/.
